WHAT YOGA MEANS TO ME

When I step onto my mat I feel joy, excitement, bliss, love, peace, energy, harmony and Divine connection - I feel at one with the Universe. Yoga means freedom to me. Free to be open. Free to let go and free to surrender. It is not just a set of postures, or a way to breathe. Yoga is the way I live my life, fully and freely. Breathing relaxes my mind, postures calm and energize my body, and the philosophies nurture my soul. On my mat, yoga challenges my body with intense postures, while off of my mat, life brings many challenges where yoga reminds me to be fully present. Yoga has encouraged me to be as familiar with my " inner world" (thoughts, emotions, memories, imagination and desire) as I am with the "outer world" (time, space, people, places and society). Yoga to me, means being able to move through both the inner and outer domains of life with freedom. Wether I am in the studio working on handstands or backbends, or I am walking through life while faced with difficult situations, yoga is always there to free me. The asanas of yoga have opened up my body, which has made me able to open up my mind and my soul, which has in turn, given me freedom.

WHO IS MILENA?

Milena developed a dedicated yoga practice in 2005 where she began to immediately notice the positive influence it brought to her life. Involved in many different athletic endeavors since a child, she decided to leave her full time career in marketing to teach yoga full time in 2007. In order to give this beautiful gift to others, she studied with many teachers and received several different yoga certifications in hot yoga, power yoga and Ashtanga. She currently teaches full time in the Los Angeles area and is a mentor to students studying to become instructors. "My goal as a teacher is to inspire people to have a better understanding of the mind-body-soul connection and to bring more joy into life." Milena brings a light-hearted and compassionate quality to her fun, yet intense classes.

ABOUT MILENA YOGA

Milena teaches a strong, creative and progressive yoga class with a lot of focus on breath and alignment. She is intense yet light-hearted and compassionate in her teaching style. She offers a unique and vigorous approach to yoga, teaching her students to use breath as a way to find inner strength in order to deepen the asanas and open the body and mind to a greater state of being both on and off the yoga mat. She offers a child-like curiosity, teaching her students to find freedom on and off their mats. Her classes offer a dynamic blend of postures rooted in the ancient style of Ashtanga Yoga. She has the gift to be able to work with the body in front of her and realizes how different our physical shells may be, but how united we are as a collective, universal energy. Milena strives to make each of her classes a moving, breathing meditation, allowing her students to develop flexibility, gain strength and focus the mind, as well as enabling them to captivate self-awareness.

Milena is as much a student as she is an instructor and she is a strong believer in the importance of continuing education. She regularly attends workshops, and teacher trainings in order to deepen her own personal practice and to strengthen her teaching knowledge.

Forever a student, Milena is grateful to embark on the wonderful gift of teaching and to be able to share her love for yoga with others.
